Job description
Essential Functions:
Characteristic duties and responsibilities of theAssociateDirector, Fraternity and Sorority Life(FSL)include:
- Advise the Panhellenic, National Pan-Hellenic & Interfraternity Councils;adviseindividual fraternity and sorority chapters;adviseGamma Sigma Alpha, Ordre of Omega & Rho Lambda
- Assistorganizations in developing,coordinatingand upholdingpolicies and procedures;establishspecialized training & personalizedassistanceto organizations;maintainaccuraterecords of chapter membership, recruitment statistics, service hours, and scholarship; management ofOfficeRooConnectpage, including update of forms,filesand resources
- Supervise and provide an educational experience totwo(2)student staffwithin the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life
- Assistin the programming of keyfraternity and sorority lifeevents and traditions; lead effective and comprehensive recruitment activities and initiatives
- Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, students,alumni/aeand national officesthat collaborate and supportfraternity and sororityinitiatives.Provide professional development by serving onUniversitycommittees and being involved in various organizations.
- Coordinate educational programs geared toward thefraternity and sororitycommunity with a special emphasis on recruitment, community, &policy.
- Handle contract negotiation and processingas itpertains to programs & events.
- Manage programming budget by planning, directing, and controlling the financial
- Manage theFSLEnhancement Fund by administering chapter recruitment grants, supporting professional development initiatives, overseeing the FSL Ambassadors program, and ensuring strategic use of gift funds to strengthen and grow the FSL community.
- Lead collaborative efforts with the University Alumni Association to strengthen engagement with fraternity and sorority alumni by coordinating meetings, and developing strategies that enhance alumni involvement, mentorship, philanthropy, and support of the FSL community
- Develop and implementing marketing strategies forfraternity and sorority lifeprograms
- Develop an ongoing assessment program (qualitative & quantitative) tomonitorthe satisfaction with and growth offraternityandsorority lifeprogramming
- Overseesthe Department of Student Life Marketing area; supervising a team of student employees including a social media coordinator, 2-3 student photographers, and a content creator, to create engaging content and promote department programs and events across digital and social media platforms
- AssistDirector, Student Lifewith special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Education:
Requires a relevant master's degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
None.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience with fraternity and sorority lifeprograms,advising,and/oremployment with a national fraternity or sororityrequired.Ability to counsel and advise studentsregardinguniversitypolicies and requirementsrequired. Strong organizational,writtenand oral communications skillsrequired. Demonstrated leadership abilityrequired. An articulate understanding ofthe mission, culture,climateand environment of ametropolitan universityrequired. Experience withWorkDayandMicrosoftOfficepreferred
Leadership:
Direct supervision and evaluation of work as a first-line supervisor over non-exempt staff including hiring, terminating, disciplining; or functional guidance and/or project leadership over exempt staff engaged in activities of a recurring basis.
Physical Requirements:
Job is physically comfortable; individual is normally seated and has discretion about walking, standing, etc. May occasionally lift very lightweight objects.
Working Conditions:
No major sources of working conditions discomfort, standard working environment with possible
minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems, and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
