Processing Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a Processing Engineer to support manufacturing, foundry, machining, inspection, and process improvement operations within an industrial metals manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving process optimization, supporting quality initiatives, coordinating cross-functional production activities, and managing projects related to casting, machining, and manufacturing operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support production, manufacturing, inspection, and NDT operations across multiple departments
  • Provide leadership and technical support to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and process control
  • Communicate daily with manufacturing, engineering, QA, and inspection personnel to resolve production issues and improve workflows
  • Assist in defect classification, corrective actions, weld classifications, and minimizing rework processes
  • Coordinate with dimensional inspection and NDT teams to maintain quality standards
  • Support the development of new manufacturing technologies, products, and process improvements
  • Work with foundry engineering on casting development projects and pouring simulations using solid models
  • Manage customer-related manufacturing and engineering projects
  • Assist in process development related to foundry operations, consumables, machining, and process flow improvements
  • Provide direction and support to production supervisors and manufacturing teams
  • Maintain effective communication with shop personnel, management, customers, and suppliers
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational problem-solving efforts

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field preferred
  • 3โ€“5 years of manufacturing process experience in metals manufacturing or related industrial environments
  • Hands-on experience with casting upgrade processes, welding, grinding, heat treat, machining, NDT, QA/QC, or related manufacturing operations
  • Strong understanding of foundry operations, machining processes, and ferrous/non-ferrous metals manufacturing
  • Ability to read blueprints and use manufacturing-related tools and equipment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to coordinate operations and lead teams with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in fast-paced industrial environments
  • Comfortable working in foundry, machine shop, and manufacturing environments with exposure to heat, noise, dirt, and industrial conditions
  • Occasional travel and off-hours support may be required
