As a Machine Shop Supervisor at Excelsior, a Ryerson Family of Companies, you will be responsible for directing the efficient function of shop operations including but not limited to day to day scheduling and shop floor supervision, assistance with technical questions or issues, and processing of customer RFQs and PO's.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Understand production goals and implement actions necessary to meet objectives
  • Carry out and support company policies, goals and objectives
  • Review shop supply inventory and advise purchasing when levels are low
  • Communicate with other departments, as well as other locations as needed
  • Support sales efforts which may require communication directly with customers
  • Understand customer requirements and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing equipment
  • Provide direction and coaching in safe work practices; support safety goals
  • Assist with responses to customer RFQs in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and issue vendor PO's to purchase material for shop jobs or other items as needed
  • Process customer PO's and input orders into Excelsior's system to allow for efficient production of shop floor jobs
  • Create and communicate detailed job travelers to the shop floor and QC in order to ensure accurate production of customer jobs
  • Help resolve open technical issues with current shop floor jobs, assist and back up QC as needed
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of previous machining experience in a CNC job shop environment
  • Very strong technical experience in a high-tolerance, high-precision machining environment
  • High School Diploma / GED is required; College Education preferred
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience communicating with customers in a professional manner

Salary: $70,918.85- $106,378.27 annually. A starting salary higher than $70,918.85 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
