CAD Drafting Technician

About the Role

Are you a detail-oriented drafter looking to build a career in land surveying? We are seeking a CAD Drafting Technician to join our tight-knit team working directly alongside two Licensed Land Surveyors. In this role, you’ll turn raw field data collected by our crews into precise, high-quality boundary, topographic, and property surveys.

What You’ll Do

  • Draft with Precision: Transform field survey data into clear, accurate CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Analyze Legal Records: Review property legal descriptions, deeds, and historical documents to guide your drafting.
  • Research & Investigate: Conduct online research to retrieve land records, municipal data, and property information.
  • Decipher Field Notes: Interpret raw field technician notes, sketches, and historical script/cursive records.
  • Collaborate Daily: Communicate clearly with surveyors, field crews, and clients over the phone and via email to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Manage Documents: Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and internal software tools to organize project files and specs.

What You Bring

  • CAD Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and a solid grasp of core drafting commands.
  • Hands-on Experience: 1+ years of CAD drafting experience preferred (surveying or civil background is a major plus!).
  • Sharp Eye for Detail: Ability to decipher handwritten field notes and navigate legal property descriptions.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable with MS Office (Excel & Word), web research, and eager to learn proprietary company software/codes.
  • Strong Communicator: Clear, professional verbal and phone skills for collaborating with team members and external contacts.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize daily tasks, manage multiple timelines, and keep files well-ordered.

The licensed land surveyors have a combined experience of over 64 years, and a combined staff with over 175 years of experience.
