Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Sales Applications Engineering team to develop conceptual designs and full-line processing solutions based on customer specifications and project requirements.
  • Create detailed 3D parametric models using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor to represent complete processing lines, equipment integration, optimized layouts, and system-level configurations.
  • Develop complex assemblies and system configurations using advanced CAD tools, including configuration management and design automation.
  • Perform simulations, including structural, kinematic, thermal, or fluid-flow analysis, to validate design feasibility, performance estimates, and potential risks within sales proposals.
  • Develop animations and motion studies that clearly illustrate system operation, material flow, assembly sequences, maintenance access, and overall workflow.
  • Produce high-quality, photorealistic renderings and visualization packages to communicate design intent, equipment integration, ergonomics, and system functionality.
  • Prepare technical illustrations, 3D walkthroughs, interactive visuals, and other presentation materials to support sales proposals and customer discussions.
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure proposed designs align with company capabilities, cost targets, manufacturing processes, safety requirements, and delivery timelines.
  • Participate in customer meetings and presentations, effectively communicating complex mechanical design concepts and technical advantages to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Translate customer requirements into innovative, technically sound, and commercially compelling mechanical design concepts.
  • Maintain accurate design documentation, configuration management, and version control throughout the proposal process.
  • Support the transition of successful concepts from the sales and proposal stage into project execution and detailed engineering.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design, industrial design, applications engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or visualizing large-scale processing systems, heavy machinery, integrated production lines, or complex industrial equipment.
  • Expert-level proficiency with SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, including advanced assembly management, configurations, and design automation.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as SOLIDWORKS Simulation or equivalent.
  • Experience with animation, motion studies, and high-end rendering software such as PhotoView 360, KeyShot, Emulate 3D, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of equipment layout, material handling, system integration, safety, ergonomics, accessibility, and manufacturability.
  • Experience developing sales-oriented mechanical concepts that balance technical accuracy with visual impact and commercial appeal.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with complementary tools such as AutoCAD, PLM systems, and project management software.
  • Prior experience in a Sales Applications Engineering, Applications Engineering, or pre-sales technical support environment is preferred.
  • Experience in food & beverage processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, bulk material handling, or other highly engineered industrial environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with generative design, virtual reality (VR), interactive 3D visualization, or digital twin technologies is preferred.
