Job description

Boston Public Library Part-Time Position

The Boston Public Library is seeking applicants for a part-time position in the East Boston Branch. Mature, dependable individuals are invited to apply. Daytime, evening, and weekend hours are available depending upon the needs of the department. Knowledge of one or more foreign languages is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Sorting, verifying, shifting, and checking in materials.
  • Shelving materials.
  • Retrieving and routing items from shelves.
  • Answering basic questions and referring to other staff as appropriate.
  • Operating equipment such as photocopiers, microfilm readers, printers, and scanners.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • CORI – Must successfully clear a Criminal Offenders Record Information check with the City of Boston.

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED
