DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, administers all general Respiratory Therapy procedures, including humidity and aerosol therapy, lung inflation maneuvers, and pulmonary secretion clearance methods. Initiates, monitors, trouble shoots and maintains patients on continuous ventilatory support. Administers pharmacological agents and performs CPR. Performs invasive and noninvasive monitoring and diagnostic techniques ascribed to specific critical care areas. Works independently within the ICU, ER and floor care areas. Ability to assist with department and organization's education activities. Adheres to Department and Medical Center's Policies and Procedures.


This position requires assisting with special pulmonary procedures in an inpatient, outpatient, and OR capacity. You will work along side other team members and assist with bronchoscopy and other interventional pulmonary procedures including, but not limited to, EBUS, navigation bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, tunneled pleural catheter placement, chest tube placement, tracheostomy. At times you may be asked to assume the role of OR circulator or scrub, with a need to know and observe sterile techniques. Knowledge of EPIC OpTime is desirable. Must have a good understanding of airway management.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) year advance practice RT Education Program/AS Degree.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get RAT w/in 6 months of hire date.

  • Must be able to function in a fast paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement RT interventions and evaluate results.

  • Demonstrates experience with or interest in providing individualized care to vulnerable populations.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Respiratory Advanced Training (RAT).

  • Respiratory Advanced Training (RAT II).

  • Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated RT experience in Pulmonary Special Procedures or Interventional Pulmonology, Advanced Bronchoscopy, ICU, and/or Perioperative Services in an acute care setting.

  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families


SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.


Pay Transparency Act


Annual Full Pay Range: $128,830 - $128,830 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent: $61.70 - $61.70
