We are seeking the immediate hire of a Permit Technician (PTAN) for our office in Braselton, Georgia.
 

The person in the role will work under the direction of the Zoning and Permitting Manager.  The person in this role should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player.  Primary duties will include assisting people who are applying for permits with the routine and technical information related to the issuance of building permits.  This may include relaying routine information related to routine building code requirements and ordinances as well as assisting the public in completing applications and other required forms.  The person will also maintain a database of construction permits, educate the public on the building inspection process, and perform clerical and bookkeeping duties as needed.  The position is office-based and may require sitting or standing for long periods of time. 


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled assignments during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, for approximately 20 hours per week. 
  • Protects confidential information and acts responsibly when it comes to private and personal property.
  • Proactively communicates with staff members, partners, and the general public.
  • Maintains accuracy of permit tracking database, tracking permits issued and inspections performed for several client offices.
  • Answers phone calls, responds to email, and greets office visitors.
  • Provides information and assistance; prepares correspondence and reports; and receives and files documents.  
  • Works on special projects, which may involve researching and analyzing information; coordinating tasks; preparing forms and documents; maintaining records, indexes, and logs.  
  • Assists other staff members with additional tasks as needed.
  • Compiles reports and documents as requested and on a monthly basis.
  • Stays current on any necessary, ongoing training opportunities, credentials, and certifications. Consistently studies codes and standards as related to work performance.


Requirements:
We will consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this job.
 

  • Minimum education required: High school graduate or GED.  An Associate's degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred (not required).
  • ICC Permit Technician certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's license.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience working as a permit technician or in a related role is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in an office setting in an administrative, operations, or bookkeeping capacity is required.
  • General knowledge of the construction industry preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and conduct in any situation.  Maintains a consistently positive attitude toward company and clients.
  • Self-disciplined and able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Works well with a wide variety of people and is a strong teammate who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving ability and capable of forging effective relationships.
