Job Description

At Vitalant, technology plays an important role in helping us save and improve lives through blood donation, research, and innovation. We are currently seeking a Web Application Developer to help develop, implement, and support the software applications that enable our teams to do this important work. In this role, you’ll collaborate with teams across Vitalant, its affiliates, and business units to deliver high-quality application services and technology solutions that support our mission and keep our organization moving forward. As a Web Application Developer, you’ll get to:

  • Design and develop scalable web and mobile applications using modern technologies and platforms.
  • Build and support applications using Microsoft technologies, including .NET, Visual Studio, Xamarin, Azure DevOps, Office 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Explore emerging technologies and platform architectures to create engaging application experiences for Vitalant’s donors and customers.
  • Partner with IT teams, including Architecture, Infrastructure, Business Analysis, and Quality Assurance, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with end users to understand requirements and ensure application solutions meet their needs and project goals.
  • Perform cross-browser and desktop/mobile testing, including unit testing, to ensure application quality and functionality.
  • Develop and maintain documentation in accordance with software development standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Contribute independently and collaboratively as part of an Agile development team.
  • Communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with technical teams, business partners, and end users.
REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Adequate knowledge of relation database system and Object-Oriented programming required. Understanding of full software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies required. Healthcare experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of work experience required. Some experience with Azure DevOps source control software preferred. Experience in web programming and with Content Management Systems and WEB UI/UX preferred. Demonstrated ability to work as part of an application development team; create structure code for integration into larger systems and document work for maintenance preferred. Experience with Kentico content management system (CMS) and MVC framework preferred. Proven working experience with web accessibility best practices preferred. Experience with ASP.NET, C#, MVC and entity framework Experience with API-based software development and RESTful application services. Experience with Object Relational Mappers/SQL queries/interaction with databases. Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts and practices.

Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities. Must possess good customer service skills and be able to work well with other departments and clients. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Must have analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.
