Description

Providence Baptist Church’s next coordinator of music should love leading the church in congregational singing, enjoy theologically rich music, and want to see church members use their musical gifts.

The ideal candidate for this position should value traditional hymns along with modern hymns by Sovereign Grace, City Alight, Indelible Grace, and the Gettys, along with worship music by Maranatha Music, Vineyard Music, Passion, Matt Redman, and others.

·     Leads the other musicians and singers in preparing the music for congregational singing on the Lord’s Day.

·     Functions as the primary, but not sole, music leader of the Music Team during worship services on the Lord’s Day,

·     Transposes or creates chord charts or number charts.

·     Oversees the maintenance of all musical instruments owned by the Church.

·     Helps to maintain and repair the soundboard and sound system, except for when maintenance and repairs fall outside his abilities and hours worked per week. In such cases, the Music Coordinator is to procure bids on the needed work and 1) hire the contractor if the work falls within his approved spending and budget or 2) submit the bids to the Senior Pastor for board approval.

·     Works at developing musical skills that promote congregational singing at the Church.

·     Maintains inventory of music supplies and instruments as needed.

·     Reports to the senior pastor.

Qualifications

·     A proficiency in singing and simultaneously playing guitar or piano.

·     Knowledge of traditional hymns and contemporary hymns/songs by Sovereign Grace Music, CityAlight Music, Indelible Grace Music, Getty Music, and other music that is congregational in style and doctrinally rich in content.

·     The ability to learn, play, and lead the congregation in new songs.
