Job description

The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview
  • Assists with CPR under the direction/supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician.
  • Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and or information systems. Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, hair, skin, and oral care. Completes assigned patient duties within the time frame established by the registered nurse.
  • Reinforces transition/discharge teaching and patient self care activities.
  • Performs required clinical skills such as vital sign measurement and enters patient vital signs information into computer, aseptic technique, non-invasive specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care, ostomy care, and application of teds/pneumatic teds. Provides complete AM/PM care, vital signs, intake and output, appropriate and timely documentation and participates in skin rounds.
  • Assists with admission, transfer, or discharge of patients.
  • Observes patients carefully for significant changes.
  • Seeks to improve the effectiveness of communication and interactions with others.
  • Collaborates with the RN, the need for referrals to assist in addressing patient safety and legal issues. Verifies physician's orders prior to performing procedure.
  • Clarifies with RN any special procedures or observations necessary. Communicates patients' progress toward desired outcomes and diagnostic results to RN as appropriate. Reports consistently patient data in a concise and thorough manner.
  • Assists with the identification of actual and potential risks to patient safety. Reports patient safety issues utilizing to appropriate personnel.
  • Describes the unit based quality improvement activities and implications for practice.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Paid or practicum experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Other Credentials: AHA Heartsaver AED. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period
  • Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in English and verbal and written communication skills. Good public relations skills. Good bedside manners.
  • Usual Work Day: 8 Hours
