The Medical Surgical Unit provides medical oversight for patients with chronic or acute illness, and patients recovering from illness or surgical procedures. Our 36-bed unit is consistently busy. We admit, transfer, and discharge up to 600 patients a month.
How you'll contribute
This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.
  • Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs
  • Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients
  • Develops individual nursing care plans
  • Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed
  • Evaluates patient care outcomes
  • Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees
  • Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
  • Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
  • Associates Degree in Nursing, required
  • KY RN state licensure or compact licensure, required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
