Job description

The Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position or tenure-track faculty position with an 11-month appointment beginning January 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor depending on qualification and commensurate with credentials. We seek an educator and clinician with clinical excellence in Operative/Restorative Dentistry, including a strong background in advanced operative/restorative dentistry, cariology, biomaterials, digital dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry to contribute to the predoctoral (DDS) programs. As a faculty member, r esponsibilities will vary by track and may include:
Clinical Track Faculty Expectations (Academic Professional Track, Non-Tenure)
    • Supervise pre-clinical and clinical activities related to general dentistry, with emphasis on Operative/Restorative Dentistry.
    • Deliver didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical instruction in predoctoral and postdoctoral programs.
    • Evaluate student professionalism, clinical performance, and academic progress.
    • Provide patient care within a multidisciplinary clinical team, focused on Operative/Restorative Dentistry.
    • Participate in creative work or scholarly activities.
    • Contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation, integrating evidence-based practices and technology.
    • Engage in service to the department, college, and university, including participation in faculty calibration seminars and other academic activities.

Tenure-Track Faculty Expectations
The College of Dentistry expectations for holding a tenure-track position include effective undergraduate and/or graduate classroom and/or clinical teaching; mentoring and supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students, residents and postdoctoral trainees, with involvement in the recruitment and mentoring of residents in our specialty programs and/or doctoral students and guiding them through to graduation in a timely manner; active involvement in scholarship with sustained extramural funding and demonstrated evidence of independent research through external funding; publication of peer-reviewed research articles that demonstrate impact; and providing service to the College, Texas A&M University and the professional community.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree.
  • Completion of a master's degree or Clinical certificate in operative/restorative dentistry
  • Minimum of three years of clinical dental practice experience.
  • Eligibile for dental licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Record of experience with digital dental technologies (i.e.CAD/CAM)
  • Demonstrated commitment to student development and success
  • Strong educational and evidence-based practice knowledge and skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Documented experience in esthetics
  • PhD in dental materials or related area
  • Demonstrated innovation and adaptability in educational settings
  • Experience mentoring students
  • Record of collaborative achievements
  • Record of scholarship and funding
  • Current or previous academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher, with demonstrated experience in predoctoral dental education.
  • Experience with dental implant-supported restorations
