Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the Cancer Health Equity Division of the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Associate will work on supporting the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Health. The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct and coordinate health care delivery research, including implementation science studies aimed at reducing and eliminating cancer disparities in medically underserved and socially marginalized communities. The position will lead data management and analysis for ongoing research projects. There will be opportunities for authorship on publications, presentation at conferences, and collaboration on grant proposal development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Manages databases, develops analytical plans, and carries out analysis for manuscripts, reports and presentations related to cancer and health equity projects.
  • Leads, drafts, and publishes papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Assists in the development of regulatory protocols, recruitment materials, intervention resources, and education and policy-relevant deliverables.
  • Leads and supports implementation of cancer prevention and control studies among high-risk and underserved populations.
  • Assists the PIs in the identification and development of grant proposals based on the cancer control research conducted.
  • Understand and adhere to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute core values.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers's compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Interest policy.
  • Acts as a role model for corporate integrity, customer service and improved quality.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD in Social and Behavioral Sciences, Health Policy and Management, Epidemiology, or related discipline, including but not limited to Health Services Research, Health Psychology, or Sociology required.
  • Consideration to interview may also be given to applicants who are in ABD status. Documentation of Ph.D. completion must be provided prior to commencement of employment.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent data management and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Stata, SAS, or R.
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed publications (as appropriate for level of experience) using implementation science theories and methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with institutional review boards (IRB).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in community-engaged, health care delivery, or systems-level public health research, preferred.
