Lead Software Engineer, DevOps

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
About the Team: Our team is the frontline defense for the organization's inbound traffic. Leveraging deep expertise in web applications, protocols, and modern security practices, we utilize advanced CDN controls to deploy critical safeguards like Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Bot mitigation, and DDoS protection. Operating within an Agile framework, we partner closely with diverse application teams across the company to ensure their web assets remain highly secure and resilient.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company

• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community

• Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

• Utilize DevOps tools like Python and Git/Github

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree

• At least 4 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

• At least 3 years of experience in Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

• At least 4 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of DevOps Engineering experience

• 5+ years of experience in Cybersecurity Engineering working with CDN security controls (WAF, DDoS protection)

• 5+ Years of Akamai experience (App Delivery, Security Controls, WAF, BOT Protection, Monitoring, APIs)

• 5+ Years of experience with HTTP Protocols, DNS, and Loadbalancing

• 4+ years of experience with coding and scripting using Python

• 2+ years of experience working within Agile Development Practices

• Familiarity with OWASP and MITRE ATT&CK Frameworks

• Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Riverwoods, IL: $179,400 - $204,700 for Lead Software Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
