Job description

Job Title: Recreation Maintenance worker Full-Time

Department: Recreation

Location: 32 Farm View Drive New Gloucester Maine 04260

Reports To: Recreation Director

Status: Non Exempt- Hourly

SUMMARY

The Recreation Maintenance Worker is responsible for the upkeep of general maintenance and carpentry projects for the Recreation Department and the oversight of seasonal employees.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Guiding seasonal employee with tasks
  • Trail maintenance including but not limited to, trail maintenance and mowing
  • Tree-felling and clean up
  • Vehicle operation; including but not limited to, towing a trailer, driving on public roads, driving on trails, operating large agriculture equipment.
  • General labor and carpentry skills
  • Interacting with the public
  • Maintain disc golf courses including but not limited to, applying woodchips around T-pads, clean up rubbish on and around T-pads, and empty trash cans on disc golf courses
  • Assist with set up and operation of events held at Pineland Farms
  • Carpentry projects include but not limited to, building and repairing picnic tables, making shelves, cupboards, sign and fence work.
  • Ensuring a focus on safety while operating equipment




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Training
  • Guiding day to day operations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The use for PPE (Person Protective Equipment) is used regularly and provided by Pineland Farms. This position requires working in a variety of outdoor climates, including hot summers and cold winters, often in rain or snow. Most of this role is out in the field operations with occasional office work during the day.
