Job description

At Grant Street Group, we build highquality software and provide uncompromising support for tax collection, electronic payments, and auctions, helping government agencies work better and deliver reliable, efficient services.

Data-driven decision making is an increasingly important part of our company culture, and our Data Analytics team provides the tools to make it happen. As part of this team, developers are responsible for building and supporting high performance data solutions, monitoring and responding to our growing network of tools, and facing and overcoming complex technical challenges. We are looking for a data engineer who has a strong technical background and interest in ETL processes and data warehousing.
Some qualities we think would make you a good fit:
  • You enjoy a variety of work: You're bored by a work environment where every day is the same and the steps are all laid out for you. You'd much prefer a variety of challenging work and ownership over the solution. You love getting to the root of the issue, whether it's an application error or a client request.
  • You develop with the end user's needs in mind: You set up tools to maximize value and minimize headaches for the people who use them. You also develop solutions with an end goal in mind, and build products for the long-term.
  • You take responsibility for your solutions: You're comfortable supporting the tools and pipelines you build, monitoring them in production, and troubleshooting issues when they arise.
  • You love working in a team: You will work in a small but mighty team in charge of the entire data and business intelligence lifecycle. You'll collaborate with your team members as well as our product teams to create a great experience for our users.
Some technical experience we would like you to have or be able to get up to speed with quickly:
  • Strong SQL, including data modeling concepts and ETL best practices
  • Solid programming skills in Python or Go, and willingness to learn other languages as needed (Groovy, Perl)
  • Experience with cloudbased data engineering (AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with tools for largescale data migration (Databricks)
  • TechOps skills that help you support analytics tools, patch and update platforms, and troubleshoot system issues or failures
  • Comfort with the Linux command line and shell scripting
Lastly...

There is minimal travel: 1-3 weeks per year for on-site meetings. If you live (or want to) in Pittsburgh, you can work in our downtown headquarters.

We reward teamwork, professional excellence, and individual responsibility. Using the best collaboration tools available, we offer a technology-rich work environment that makes it possible for us to support on-site and telecommuting positions tailored to the needs of our employees. If you are passionate about your work, you have entrepreneurial spirit and you want to be on a team of exceptional professionals, then maybe Grant Street is for you!

Expected Salary Range: $80,000 - $180,000/year

Recruitment Fraud Warning:
It has come to our attention that various individuals have been posing as Grant Street Group employees and contacting job seekers to schedule interviews and/or complete pre-interview screening questions.
All legitimate Grant Street Group positions require completing an application on our website before an interview. When you are contacted by Grant Street Group, all correspondence will come from an email address ending in "@grantstreet.com".
The hiring process usually takes several weeks and begins with a phone or video interview. Grant Street Group will not ask you to use any platform other than Google Meet or Zoom to conduct an interview. We will not ask you to make payments or to provide your date of birth, social security number, or banking details during the interview process.
If you believe you have been a victim of recruiting fraud concerning Grant Street Group, please contact us at [email protected].

These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
