Are you a seasoned network professional with a passion for solving complex network issues? Join our team as a Senior NOC Network Engineer and play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical network infrastructure.


Opportunity:


VSO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior NOC Network Engineer (Tier 3) Supervisor to join our team in Lorton, Virginia. This role is perfect for individuals with advanced network operations expertise, capable of handling high-level troubleshooting and leading network improvement initiatives.


Responsibilities:

Serve as the escalation point for complex network issues from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.

Lead the diagnosis and resolution of critical network incidents to minimize downtime.

Conduct deep-dive network performance analysis and proactively identify areas for optimization.

Design, implement, and maintain network configurations, upgrades, and solutions.

Collaborate with network architects and other teams on network design and capacity planning.

Oversee the integration of new network technologies and solutions into existing infrastructure.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 NOC personnel.

Ensure network security standards are adhered to and contribute to the development of security policies.

Maintain up-to-date documentation on network architecture, configurations, and processes.

Participate in on-call rotations and respond to network emergencies as needed.

Provide on-site team management including:

o Mentoring of junior team members

o Management of time reporting/forecasting for the team

o Assist with Business Development activities

o Ownership of weekly/monthly contractually required communications with Prime

o Assist with monthly invoicing processes to ensure accurate billing to the customer


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in network operations, engineering, or a similar role.

Expert-level understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.

Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and/or other enterprise network equipment.

Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG).

Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewall management, IDS/IPS, and access control.

Proven ability to lead incident response and troubleshoot complex network issues.

Experience with cloud networking concepts, such as AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments, is a plus.

Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.


Requirements

  • Must be within driving distance of Lorton, VA, or willing to relocate (Relocation Assistance Package Available).
  • Must be willing to work onsite.
  • Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including on-call duties.
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.).
