Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and be able to provide high-quality care to both low and high-risk patients during the labor and delivery process. The position requires a commitment to both patient care and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, assess and record fetal heart tones.
  • Administer medications and IV therapy as necessary.
  • Assist in high-risk deliveries and provide necessary support in the operating room.
  • Provide discharge teaching to new parents and support breastfeeding and lactation.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff as required.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, midwives, and support staff.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and other relevant certifications.
  • Licensure: Valid NC or Compact license in hand.
  • Charting Experience: Proficient with EPIC charting system.
  • Availability: Must have open availability, including weekends (every other weekend required).
  • Floating: Flexibility to float between high-risk and L&D units is required.
Unit Details
  • Daily Census: Approximately 25 patients.
  • Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Adolescents, Adults.
  • Average Deliveries: 350-450 deliveries per month.
  • Special Procedures: Care for high acuity patients including those on magnesium and insulin drips, as well as recovery from cesarean sections.
  • Support Services: Access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
