Job Summary:

Gain valuable work experience while helping your fellow students with writing assignments. Apply at the EXCEL Writing Zone, and help your fellow CityHawks while enjoying the best views on campus!
The EXCEL Zone's vision is to provide robust learning resources that support students’ academic success, learning development, and engagement to enhance personal and professional growth.
Peer tutors help fellow students with a wide range of writing situations including idea generation, draft feedback, citation advice, proofreading help, and more!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Communicating effectively while sharing subject matter expertise with fellow CCD students.
• Assisting fellow CCD students in one-on-one sessions.
• Facilitating small group workshops/study sessions with fellow CCD students.
• Contributing to the day-to-day duties of the assigned tutoring center.
• Attending team meetings for the assigned tutoring center.
• Excellent writing and communication skills (grades/samples requested)
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Ability to learn and adapt to student needs
• Proficient computer and Internet research skills
• Knowledge of / willingness to learn educational technology such as D2L, Microsoft tools, and Outlook
• Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, inc. but not limited to disability, race, ethnicity, socioeconomics, and LGBTQ communities
• Adherence to confidentiality

Competencies/KSAs:

Confidence in at least one of the following subjects: ENG 1021, ENG 1022.
The ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 2.5 GPA.
Enrollment at CCD in at least six credits hours for the Fall 26
Have work-study award for Fall 2026
Have successfully completed ENG 1021 and ENG 1022

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in D2L
Webex
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Power point, Word, and Excel)
Willing to learn new digital platforms like Accudemia.
