R-V Industries is a design and build manufacturer of custom industrial process equipment. We engineer a wide variety of specialty equipment. Most of our equipment is built in-house by our own in-house fabricators, machinists, mechanical and electrical assemblers.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Focus of this position is drive continuous improvement, participate in new product development and process engineering changes, assuring that all Electrical, Controls, Controls Software and qualification/ testing requirements are completed prior to a product development launch or improvement release.

This position is comprised of many roles involving all stages of the product life cycle including testing, validation, documentation, transfer to manufacturing, and technical support.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive continuous improvement, new product development, and engineering changes, assuring that all Electrical, Controls, and qualification/ testing requirements are completed prior to product release.
  • Drive innovation and new software enhancements to the market place (Remote Connectivity, Storing Data Electronically, Preventative & Predictive Maintenance Screens)
  • Technical Lead for Equipment Upgrades: Process Development, Custom Programming, Controls Upgrades, Equipment Remanufactured, Field Documentation/ Testing.
  • Technical Lead for the Autoclave product line for all electrical and controls activity.
  • Acts as an escalation point for resolution of complex technical issues. Provides technical and product support to technical support personnel, field service associates, sales associates and customers.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze technical problems. Resolve immediate issues and implement changes to prevent future problems.
  • Provide initial product training to technical support personnel, field associates and trainers.
  • Field travel to provide on-site technical support, field test support, on-site user training, field startup/commissioning and R&D project support.
  • Interface with Regulatory and Quality Control to define and assist in the implementation of product upgrades, enhancements and service procedures (UL/CSA/CE)
  • Engage suppliers in continuous improvement initiatives, device selection and “Life Testing”
  • Identify or qualify new suppliers (collaborate with procurement)
  • Leverage Suppliers engineering support and development at “no cost” to Beta Star
  • Qualify suppliers manufacturing capabilities through on-site visits and measurements.
  • Ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow for engineering changes
  • Perform root cause investigation and testing of failed or returned components
  • Provide qualification/testing documentation and support for design modifications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC based control system programs. Mitsubishi, Compactlogix, Micrologix, Unitronix, Proface and Panel Views. Servo motor program.
  • Own the complete electrical drawings set for the product line including ala cart logic outlining additional drawing requirements for the products features and options.
  • Create and maintain all life cycle documentation related to the PLC control system (URS, FRS, SDS, Validation Protocols, FAT, IQ/OQ, Manuals, etc.)
  • Responsible for software and documentation change control.
  • Provide validation testing and support for any software modifications and/or design revisions
  • Responsible for the quality of the control system as it relates to fulfillment of project specifications, URS, and all applicable codes and standards.
  • Responsible for selecting hardware to meet project specific specifications.
  • Configuring and Downloading Software Programs to all autoclaves
  • Uploading programs and storing them on server before units are shipped.
  • Review all FAT’s prior to a unit shipping.
  • Establishing and Maintaining 3rd party service groups technical Training Program and Training Manuals
