Job description

The Automation Field Service Engineer at Koops provides on-site support to repair, upgrade, and troubleshoot custom automation equipment at customer facilities. This role is critical to maintaining peak system performance and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction across a wide range of industries.

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade custom automation equipment at customer sites
  • Support system performance and reliability throughout the equipment lifecycle
  • Diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls systems
  • Perform hands-on work with PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems
  • Coordinate solutions with internal teams and communicate directly with customers
  • Travel to customer sites across North America 
  • Maintain strong documentation and communication on service activities
  • Deliver high-quality service with a focus on customer satisfaction

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working in the field, learning new technologies, and delivering solutions directly to customers. If you get bored easily and need challenging variety in your work, this might be the role for you. 

Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment in production environments
  • Knowledge of controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Team-oriented approach 
  • High standard of integrity and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel 35% 

Education & Experience

  • Four-year engineering or technical degree, or equivalent hands-on experience with custom automation equipment
  • Experience with controls programming (preferably Allen-Bradly PLCs/HMIs and/or robotic systems)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
