Their role typically involves assisting plastic surgeons during procedures, providing pre- and post-operative care to patients, educating patients about the surgical process, and monitoring recovery. These nurses often receive on-the-job training to familiarize themselves with the unique aspects of plastic surgery, such as wound care, cosmetic procedures, and patient safety protocols. They play a key role in ensuring patient comfort and supporting the surgical team throughout the process.

What kind of support and training can a no experience plastic surgery RN expect when starting?

As a registered nurse new to plastic surgery, you can typically expect a structured orientation period that includes both classroom instruction and hands-on training. You'll learn about specific procedures, patient care protocols, and safety standards unique to plastic surgery.
