Post Anesthetic Care Unit Registered Nurse

The post anesthetic care unit (PACU) registered nurse is responsible for managing the care of the pediatric and adult patient requiring a surgical procedure. The PACU RN is a professional nurse who is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during the post-operative phases of the perioperative stay. The PACU RN participates in the clinical assessment, planning for care, implantation of appropriate nursing techniques and evaluation of nursing interventions.

Qualifications

Minimum education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Minimum work experience:

Minimum of 1 year previous PACU experience.

Required licenses/certifications:

Current licensure in Texas as Registered Nurse. Certified though the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support. ACLS required within 6 months of hire. PALS or ENPC preferred.
