Registered Nurse

Classification FSLA: Non-exempt, hourly

Summary/objective: We are a comprehensive neurology practice looking for a registered nurse to administer intravenous and subcutaneous infusion therapies.

Job Type/Expected Hours:

  • Full-time; in-office
  • 4 x10 hour days per week, Monday-Friday with flexibility on day rotation
  • Hours of work are 07:00-17:00
  • No holidays, weekends, call required

Location: Farmington Hills, MI

Salary Grade/Level/Range: Starting at $35 hourly. Based on experience, longevity, certification, within company pay structure

Reports to: Clinical Infusion & Research Manager

Responsibilities Include:

  • Applies the nursing process during all interactions with patients and completes assessment interviews prior to each infusion treatment
  • Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the registered nurse implements plan of care for patients and communicates patient outcomes to healthcare team as needed
  • Ability to start peripheral IVs and access ports for treatment therapies and perform EKG's
  • Infusion therapies: Tysabri, Ocrevus, Briumvi, IVIG, Lemtrada, Rituxan, Solumedrol, Vyepti, Vyvgart, Vyvgart Hytrulo, Rystiggo, Ultomiris, Uplizna, Kisunla, Leqembi, and headache treatments.
  • Ability to learn and administer new infusion therapies.
  • Monitor for infusion related reactions per protocol and medicate as needed with appropriate orders
  • Helps coordinate and schedule needed follow up care appointments per infusion specific protocols
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff
  • Maintains ongoing knowledge in area of clinical practice and industry trends in infusion therapy
  • Participates in department-based learning activities and unit meetings
  • Assists team in pain management clinic (managing ketamine infusions and patients pre and post twilight sedation)
  • Helps maintain infusion center supplies and stocking with entire infusion team staff
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance regarding patient information, testing, prescriptions, medical information, and documentation
  • Documents patient care and infusion procedure utilizing Greenway system
  • Provide quality care during the infusion treatment such as ambulation assistance, blankets, water, snacks, transfer assistance to provide good patient experience to every patient
  • Proficiency with communication skills includes reading, writing, and active listening skills
  • Educate patients and family regarding newly prescribed infusion therapies as needed
  • Observes study protocols, follows institutional study compliance, and maintains data flow for study coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced infusion center
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
  • Flexibility in working start and end times to accommodate patients' needs
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Work experience: At least 2 years of nursing experience preferred. Proficient in IV placement and management.
  • Active nursing license in State of Michigan
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS will be obtained within 6 months of hire

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Assist patients with walking, standing, or transferring from wheelchair to infusion center chair. Cleaning restocking infusion center, cabinets, and shelves.

Travel: Potential to travel to satellite offices.
