Position Announcement
The UVU Exercise Science department is seeking a Student Instructional Assistant for EXSC 3270. Class meets MW at 1-2:15 pm, and TR 8:30-10:45 am.
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting and managing laboratory activities related to exercise testing and prescription.
  • Provide support during fitness tests and assessments, including Resting Metabolic Rate, VO2 Max, 1 Repetition Maximum strength testing, and Functional Movement Screening.
  • Help students understand and execute test protocols accurately and safely.
  • Engage in objective grading of assignments and laboratory practical assessments.
  • Conduct meetings with students to assist them in completing their final projects, offering guidance, and clarifying course material as needed.
  • Collaborate with the course instructor to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience.
  • Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and ethical standards in the laboratory.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Must be a current UVU student.
  • Must be an Exercise Science major and have completed EXSC 3270 with a B or higher.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong foundation in exercise testing and prescription principles.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting, particularly with exercise testing equipment, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students.
