Job Description Summary
The Behavior Therapist is responsible for working directly with our clients providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. As a therapist, you will be teaching verbal, social, and educational behaviors and skills to children, teens, and young adults with Autism and/or related disabilities The Behavior Therapist will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Administration
  • Case Management
  • Clinical
  • Internal Communication

Reporting Relationship
The Behavior Therapist reports directly to the Case Manager and Clinical Supervisor.


Education and Professional Certifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred.
  • Registered Behavior Technician credential (RBT) preferred.

Mandatory Job Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of Technology (e.g., Computer, iPad)
  • Able to work weekends as needed/required by the company.
  • Must complete on-going training to support job competency.

Preferred Job Requirements
Experience working with children that have been diagnosed with Autism or with other intellectual disabilities.


Physical Job Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an outside and office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including the use of electronic devices; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Visual acuity is necessary for reading and interpreting data, observing client behavior, and ensuring a safe environment. The role requires continuous verbal interaction and auditory communication with clients, which is essential for delivering the therapy effectively. Safety awareness and adherence to established protocols are critical to maintain a secure and hazard-free workspace.

  • Body positions: sitting, standing, and kneeling.
  • Body movements: walking, running, bending, twisting.
  • Ability to run (in the event the client elopes/or leaves the area)
  • Block physical aggression (when needed)
  • Body senses: the ability to see, hear, and speak articulately are required.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Tasks

Administrative

  • Fulfill 100% of scheduled sessions on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Render schedule at the end of each session
  • Lock schedule weekly, by Saturday at 8pm
  • Look through NPA works, confirm schedule prior to every session
  • Respond to all emails and phone calls within 24 hours
  • Provide a minimum 2-week notice for any vacation request for approval with appropriate paperwork
  • Submit permanent schedule changes in writing to the Scheduling Department
  • Complete and pass the Registered Behavior Technician exam through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board within 180 days of completing the Registered Behavior Technician Training.
  • Notify Supervisor and Family of staff cancellation and send in a cancellation email to cancellations@cs4hope.com
  • Complete all assigned tasks on time (to be determined per assignment)
  • Remain HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliant at all times ensuring all client files are protected including text messages, e-mails and phone conversations
  • Attend all Creative Solutions for Hope companywide trainings
  • Required minimum travel range of 25 miles

Clinical

  • Complete 1:1 clinical therapy sessions
  • Update Clinical Supervisor with any information regarding case
  • When starting new cases: discuss case details with Clinical Supervisor prior to going into client’s home
  • Complete source documentation in the form of Catalyst data and SOAP notes
  • Scheduling: Look through NPA works, confirm schedule and render every night
  • Respond to family’s e-mails and/or phone calls within 24 hours
  • Fill in necessary hours to maximize every contract
  • Receive constructive feedback with professionalism (Monthly Feedback Forms and goal setting)
  • Address case concerns in a timely manner

Internal Communication

  • Must respond to every communication attempt with internal staff (i.e., supervisors, office administrators, assigned BCBA mentors, directors) within 24 hours
  • Communicate all policy/protocol related issues immediately to Human Resources department
  • Communicate any Information and Technology (“IT”) issues that would hinder the ability to perform work duties
  • Mandatory attendance at all mandatory company meetings
  • Must be fluent in updated/current policies, adhere to those policies and ensure that knowledge of these policies is followed through

Measures of Performance

  • Attainment of annual goals established between Behavior Therapist and Case Manager and Clinical Supervisor.
  • Meet all essential job function requirements as described in the job description.
