Description Title: Lecturer (Computer Science) Position Number: Pending Hiring Unit: College of Natural and Health Sciences - Computer Science Location: UH Hilo Date Posted: May 23, 2026 Closing Date: Continuous Salary Information: Applicable Minimum for the Academic Year Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: Lecturer applicant pool for Academic Year 2026 - 2027. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the Computer Science curriculum. Courses that may be covered by a Computer Science (CS) lecturer are described in the UH-Hilo catalog: https://hilo.hawaii.edu/catalog/cs-courses  Prepare course schedules, syllabi, and reports related to teaching and student progress. Maintain a minimum of one on-campus/in-person office hour per week for each course taught

Work under the supervision of the Computer Science Chairperson. Commitment to principles of higher education and philosophy are essential.Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science or in a closely related area to the course(s) taught. Desirable Qualifications Doctoral degree in the appropriate subject area (i.e

Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Management of Information Systems). Experience teaching Computer Science courses at the University or Community College level. Demonstrated ability to work with effectively with University students.
