Position Summary
The Distributor Division of Omni Metalcraft is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Designer to create layouts and drawings for standard conveyor systems. This position plays an important role in supporting sales, project execution, and manufacturing by transforming customer requirements into accurate and functional equipment layouts.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys design, problem-solving, and seeing concepts evolve into finished products. Key Responsibilities
  • Create and revise CAD drawings for standard conveyor systems and related equipment.
  • Develop conveyor layouts utilizing Omni Metalcraft's standard product offerings.
  • Support the Sales team by preparing drawings for customer quotations and proposal packages.
  • Maintain accurate drawing documentation and revision records.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinators, Sales, Manufacturing, and other departments to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Assist with design modifications and product updates as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to drafting processes and documentation.
  • Organize and manage engineering files and technical records.

Skills Needed
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Knowledge Required
  • Basic mechanical design and drafting principles.
  • Understanding of CAD standards, drawing practices, and documentation control.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment layouts is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with dimensions, tolerances, and mechanical components.
  • Understanding of engineering and technical drawings.
