To thrive in an entry-level position on an alpaca farm, basic animal care knowledge, physical stamina, and a willingness to learn are essential, with no prior experience typically required. If you're new to working on an alpaca farm, you can expect to start with hands-on, entry-level tasks such as feeding alpacas, cleaning stalls, refilling water troughs, and helping with basic herd checks. Many farms also train new employees to assist with routine care like grooming and monitoring animal health under supervision. As you gain confidence and experience, you may have opportunities to learn more advanced responsibilities, such as supporting shearing events or assisting with breeding programs.
