How much do no commission jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 18, 2026, the average yearly pay for no commission in the United States is $100,576.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $77,000.00 and $118,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does no commission mean in a job listing?

'No commission' in a job listing means that the position does not offer additional earnings based on sales or performance beyond the standard salary or hourly wage. Employees in these roles receive a fixed pay regardless of how much they sell or achieve, unlike commission-based jobs where part of the income depends on meeting sales targets. This can provide more predictable and stable income for employees. Many administrative, customer service, or support roles are typically 'no commission.'

How does working in a no commission sales role impact collaboration and team dynamics?

In a 'No Commission' sales environment, team members typically focus more on shared goals and customer satisfaction rather than individual sales targets. This often leads to increased collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual support among colleagues, as there is less competition for commissions. Employees may find the work environment to be more cooperative and less stressful, which can contribute to higher job satisfaction and better overall team performance. However, motivation must be driven by intrinsic rewards and a passion for customer service, as there are no financial incentives tied to individual sales.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a no commission sales associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a No Commission sales associate, you need a solid understanding of product knowledge, customer service, and sales techniques, typically supported by prior retail or sales experience. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and basic computer applications is usually required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to build trust set top performers apart in this role. These skills are crucial because they enable associates to focus on customer satisfaction and relationship-building, driving repeat business and positive store reputation without commission-based incentives.
