Job description

Tristar Engineering & Management, Inc. (Tristar) is an Arizona owned and operated professional engineering firm headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and with additional offices in Tucson and Gilbert, Arizona. We are offering a great opportunity to qualified Field Technicians with proven construction engineering experience for government and private contracts to perform construction materials testing and field observations. This will include asphalt lab testing, field inspection, field testing, in place density testing, utility installation, obtaining samples, etc. Tristar offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401K, basic life and AD&D insurance, disability insurance, paid holidays, and PTO).

Job Requirements

Inspects work standards: production, productivity, and quality standards; resolving operational problems; identifying work process improvement.
Approves incoming materials by auditing adherence to specifications, conduct of visual and measurement tests, and materials rejection.
Approves in-process production by auditing adherence to specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to production personnel.
Approves finished products by auditing adherence to specifications, conduct of visual and measurement tests, return of products for re-work and waster reports; inputting data into quality database.
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
GED or HS Diploma plus 5 years of related engineering experience.
Candidates should at least have ACI Certification; and ATTI Field Certifications.
Ideal candidates will also have TTCP Hot Mix Certification, TTCP Nuclear Gage Certification and ATTSA or ACNM Traffic Management Certification.
Other desirable certifications may include NICET, ATSSA, SWPPP
Ideal candidates have previous inspection experience with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and/or the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).?

Work Environment:

May be subject to the following conditions/physical requirements dependent upon area of assignment: Adverse weather conditions, lifting in excess of 50 pounds, extended walking over rough terrain, climbing over 10 feet, exposure to hazardous materials, continuous loud noises, strenuous physical activity and/or proximity to large construction equipment.
