The Department of Health (DOH) Facilities Management Division (FMD) is responsible for the Office of Facilities Management (OFM) and oversight of seven Health Care Facilities: Fort Bayard Medical Center (FBMC), NM Veterans Home (NMVH), Turquoise Lodge Hospital (TLH), NM Rehabilitation Center (NMRC), Sequoya Adolescent Treatment Center (SATC), NM Behavioral Health Institute (NMBHI) and Meadows LTC, and the Los Lunas Community Program. OFM has several key areas of responsibility supporting the seven facilities and DOH overall, these include: Facilities Fiscal Office, Facilities Operations Management, Capital Project Management, Capital Asset Management, and Risk and Loss Management. The seven facilities provide chemical dependency and rehabilitation services, adult psychiatric services, forensic services, long-term care services, community-based services, developmentally disabled community services and adolescent treatment and reintegration services to NM residents in need of such services across New Mexico.
Why does the job exist?
The position to direct the management and function of a 40-bed medical withdrawal & social rehabilitation inpatient specialty hospital with an array of outpatient continuum of care services for adults with substance abuse problems. This position is responsible for supervising key leadership and/or multidisciplinary team members to include, but not limited to, Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Quality Director, Safety Director, Clinical Director, Utilization Review Director, and co-manage Human Resource Director and Finance Director. This position is responsible for managing facility contracts, vendors, and fiscal operations, conduct on-going strategic planning & emergency planning, and successfully address maintenance related issues in collaboration with the lessor. This position is also responsible for ensuring that accreditation status is maintained and is expected to communicate effectively to DOH leadership, Governing Board, Legislative members and community partners, and conduct bill analysis as requested.

This job is done through conducting consistent supervision and support of leadership team members and all Turquoise Lodge Hospital staff, effective communication with entire facility staff, participation in DOH and/or Administrator meetings, and participation in community partnership collaborations when appropriate.

This job is done for New Mexico residents who suffer from substance abuse dependence and on behalf of the Department of Health.
Ideal Candidate
Experience administering care for adults with substance abuse problems.
Experience managing a health care facility.
Experience with maintaining accreditation standards.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and eight (8) years of management experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification. May require licensure as Nursing Home Administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Minimal statewide travel may be required.
