What You'll Do

  • Demonstrate commitment to NLCS' core values: Support NLCS policies, procedures, guidelines, and code of conduct standards.
  • General ledger closing process: Prepare and post monthly journal entries, perform account reconciliations, analysis, and reporting, and review and analyze financial statements.
  • Payroll functions: Assist with multi-state payroll processing, upload direct deposit and positive pay files, process off-cycle payroll and manual checks, prepare various payroll reports, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, conduct payroll audits, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Accounts payable functions: Ensure compliance with policies, post accounts payable batches, investigate anomalies, select invoices for payment, maintain vendor profiles, and assist with general ledger coding.
  • Accounts receivable functions: Generate and review monthly billing statements, create and submit ACH files, post cash receipts, and manage collections of aged accounts receivable.
  • Compliance and reporting: Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, issue tax filings and notices, and prepare required data for quarterly payroll-based journal reporting to CMS.
  • Communication: Communicate errors or issues to management timely, and respond to general inquiries regarding financial statements, expenses, budgets, etc.

What You Bring

  • Associate's degree in accounting is required
  • Ability to work as part of a supportive, high functioning Finance team requiring flexibility, proactive communication, and teamwork
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required (such as, but not limited to, extracting and manipulating large data sets, using complex formulas)
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize data in a clear, concise, and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, provide instruction and train other team members as required
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills are required, to include Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read and speak English
