Position: Senior Construction Inspector

Reports to: Resident Engineer


General Qualities:

- Demonstrate the ability to effectively carry out assigned tasks with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff.

- Has full technical and administrative responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating projects/assignments.

- Possess strong supervisory and technical skills; effective time-management skills; strong computer skills; strong mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; able to mentor staff in functional areas of technical construction inspection activities.

- Manages a major complex project and/or several routines/less complex projects.


Technical Responsibilities:

- Review daily field inspections, maintain inspection reports, and prepare progress reports.

- Prepare, review, and negotiate monthly payment quantities.

- Verify that construction activities comply according to contracts and specifications.

- Interact and communicate project information with clients and project staff to clearly explain project staff to clearly explain project details for interpretation of plans and specifications.

- Perform quantity and engineering computations, as well as understand plans and specifications.

- Comprehend required inspection codes and requirements to carry out testing.

- Excellent communication skills, strong time management and, task prioritization abilities.

- Ensures compliance with plans, codes, and safety standards by inspecting.

- Proficient in software required to complete assigned projects.

- Responsive to Client and other KSE Department needs.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements and Experience:

- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and Minimum of (3) three years of experience in construction inspection or management of infrastructure construction projects (highway/sewer/water), preferred NYCDDC experience.


Professional Licenses/Registrations:

- Preferred NYCDDC current Water Main and ACI-1 Inspection Certificate.

- Qualified for ASCE Grade II, or NICET Grade III


Professional Development:

- Actively participates in professional societies, industry organizations, and local civic organizations.

- Encourages the staff to participate in professional societies, industry organizations and local civic organizations.

- Encourages professional training and development and licensing (self and staff).


Physical Requirements:

·This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections

· Ability to work in diverse weather conditions

· Extended periods of standing and walking possibly on uneven or challenging terrains

· Climbing, bending, kneeling

· Working long hours
