Niu Campus Jobs (NOW HIRING)

NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW invites applications from entry-level and lateral candidates for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions to teach in its new part-time J.D. program (PTJD Program) located in Naperville, Illinois. Instruction will be both in person (in the evenings) and on-line, both synchronous (in the evenings) and asynchronous. The positions will begin August 2027.

We welcome applications from qualified candidates across all areas and specializations. We have particular interest in candidates to teach the core first-year courses: torts, civil procedure, criminal law, property, contracts, and constitutional law.

Faculty in the PTJD Program will be part of a unified faculty along with the faculty in the College's full-time program. The full-time program is located on NIU's 15,000-student campus in DeKalb, Illinois. These positions will be at the College's new PTJD Program located at NIU's Naperville campus, which about 30 miles from DeKalb. Naperville is home to a vibrant and fast-growing legal market and is a Chicago suburb that consistently ranks among the best cities to live in the United States.

Duties include engaging in high-quality teaching and research, as well as being an active participant in law-school and university service.

Qualifications include a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school (or a law school program that is deemed substantively equivalent to an ABA-approved J.D. program for purposes of taking a US State bar examination); ability to engage in high-quality teaching; ability to engage in high-quality research; and ability to be an active participant in law school and university service.

Preferred qualifications include teaching experience (particularly in a law school), legal practice experience, a record of scholarly publication, a strong law-school record, law journal membership, and clerkship experience.
