Quality Control Technician (Food Manufacturing) - Night Shift

Join our family-owned team as a Quality Control Specialist where your keen eye for detail and passion for quality will ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety and excellence. In this pivotal role, you will ensure adherence to quality processes, conduct inspections and checks, and uphold compliance with industry regulations. The Quality Control Technician is to be proficient in ensuring quality products and processes are being implemented at Diamond Pet Foods. The Quality Control Technician’s overall responsibility, and objective, is to ensure that all aspects of the SQF, Quality, and Food Safety programs are followed by all employees, vendors, and visitors. Your expertise will help us deliver safe, consistent, and top-quality food products to our customers around the clock. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast/steady-paced environment dedicated to continuous improvement and excellence in food safety.
PAY RATE:
$22.00 per hour
Plus $2.50 per hour night shift differential

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Routinely check paperwork for accuracy and completeness, as well as labels, bags, and seals.
  • Assure checks are clear, documented, legible, and traceable.
  • Notify plant personnel and supervisors on any reports that may negatively impact the quality of the product. Dispose/reject affected product and perform follow-up testing until issue is resolved.
  • Conduct various tests on incoming ingredients for sieve, NIR, moisture, and mycotoxin.
  • Collect routine ingredients and finished samples, as required.
  • Promptly respond to calls for assistance or quality concerns with clear communication.
  • Be a resource and assist in the training and education of new employees.
  • Understand and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMP’s, and HACCP.
  • Working overtime is MANDATORY and requires full participation.
  • Keep lab, scale, and work areas clean. Maintain assigned portion of master sanitation schedule.
  • Report all safety violations and hazards to the supervisor immediately and participate in all safety programs and procedures. Must always wear PPE when required.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the supervisor to be accepted with a positive and professional attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening (drug screen, background check, and physical.)
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb, squat, bend, pull, push, kneel, crouch, etc.
  • Ability to be trained and certified to operate forklifts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is performed primarily indoors in an office setting, but employees may be outdoors and near operating equipment, loud noises, and loose particles.
  • Work performed requires employees to operate in all different temperatures/weather, heights, and dusty areas.
  • Long periods of sitting and standing may be required.
  • Employees are required to wear a bump cap, hearing protection, safety shoes/boots, and safety glasses at all times in production areas.
