American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring MO or compact RN license and med/surg experience.
Job Details
• 57-bed max capacity Medical Specialties unit servicing internal medicine patients with a wide range of diagnoses,
• Rooms feature video monitoring, sitter rooms, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations,
• Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift,
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30,
• Average patient ratios of 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, with occasional increases to 1:6 days and 1:7 nights,
• Mandatory floating to MS and MS/Tele units, including duty as a Patient Observer/Sitter if needed,
• Cerner charting preferred but not required,
Job Requirements
• Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred,
• 2 years of RN experience preferred, though 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience will be considered for quality candidates,
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred,
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs,
• Experience with CVA and traumatic brain injury care preferred,
• Respiratory care skills including HFNC, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care,
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry, and rapid response/code team use,
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience,
• Experience with PCA medications, renal failure management, and surgical drain care,
• Heparin drip management experience preferred,
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs,
Additional Information
• Provide direct medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse internal medicine patient population,
• Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses in a 24/7, 365-day healthcare facility,
• Required to work rotating shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather as needed,
• Must work 50% of holidays falling within the contract term, with flexibility on which holidays are selected to meet this requirement,
• RTO not granted for holidays but scheduling flexibility offered to meet holiday coverage needs,
• Maximum of 10 RTO days allowed, none during the first week due to orientation,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered a local rate,
• Up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (or 9 months of consecutive service) allowed, followed by a mandatory 6-month break before returning in an agency capacity
