Position: Administrative Assistant/Domestic Violence Rape Crisis Counselor
Program: CONNECT to End Violence
Classification: Non-Exempt - 40 hours
Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00
Reports to: Division Director of CONNECT to End Violence
Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant at CONNECT to End Violence, under the direction of the Division Direction, is responsible for executing administrative tasks and staff support. Responsibilities include office administrative tasks, maintaining program calendar, processing fiduciary transactions, and is responsible for supply inventory and ordering, and other tasks as assigned by the Division Director. Must possess the skills needed to work on a team, be a self-starter, maintain office organization, maintain confidentiality and integrity, and demonstrate professionalism at all time. The Administrate Assistant may be directed to fulfill the obligations of a trained Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Counselor.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide usual and customary administrative duties.
  • Maintains team calendar of meetings and outreach events.
  • Works independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects and outreach activities.
  • Adheres to agency policy on confidentiality.
  • Maintains inventory and necessary ordering of office supplies and program supplies.
  • Adheres to program policies and procedures.
  • Maintains data for Performance Measurements.
  • Processes Payment Requests, deposits and credit card reconciliation.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Support teammates in creating materials for groups and events.
  • Fulfills the responsibilities of a trained Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Counselor* (if applicable):
  • Provide supportive and advocacy services for survivors and secondary survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in accordance with M.G.L. ch 233 sec 20j and 20k in-person, at approved off-site locations, and via phone/virtual technology.
  • Facilitate traditional and non-traditional support groups and workshops for survivors and secondary survivors
  • Fulfill 24 Hour Crisis Hotline coverage through safety assessment and coordination of services during business hours, evenings and nights, and during weekends as assigned. Must respond in person to a crisis in the community (for example Marthaโ€™s Vineyard Hospital or local law enforcement) within 45 minutes.
  • Participate in awareness, outreach and prevention activities.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and statistics as required by funding sources.
  • Adhere to all funder, agency, and program Policies and Procedures, including agency policy on confidentiality.
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in psychology and/or related fields or equivalent lived experience.
  • Strong confidentiality, discretion and non-judgmental.
  • Computer literate.
  • Possess excellent organization skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and responsive.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to change in a complex and sensitive environment both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess and actively practice strong communication skills, compassion, empathy, patience, discretion, confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of the dynamics and causes of domestic violence and sexual assault and a commitment to end gender-based violence as a social issue.
  • Possess the knowledge and understanding of effective prevention strategies and facilitation skills.
  • Work effectively with persons who have diverse styles, abilities, motivations and backgrounds.
  • Work a variety of schedules depending on the needs of the program.
  • Complete training (25 hours domestic violence and 35 hours sexual violence) as required by MGL c. 233 s. 20J and 20K to protect client records and to provide direct services as a trained domestic violence and rape crisis counselor within the first nine months of employment.
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts drivers license and reliable, independent transportation.
