Job Summary
B&D Contracting is seeking an experienced Marine Safety Representative B to support shipbuilding and repair operations in Pascagoula, MS on the night shift. This position is responsible for promoting a safe work environment by conducting inspections, monitoring OSHA and company safety compliance, identifying hazards, and ensuring employees follow established safety procedures. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in marine or industrial safety environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and operations.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Identify hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with accident prevention by educating employees on safe work practices.
- Monitor confined space activities and ensure all applicable safety procedures are followed.
- Complete safety reports, inspections, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond to safety incidents and assist with investigations as needed.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work closely with supervisors and management to maintain a safe work environment.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in safety compliance, preferably in shipbuilding or ship repair.
- Current Confined Space Certification.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Experience inspecting machinery, equipment, and work areas for regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work night shift.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including climbing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs., and working in confined spaces and outdoor environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Shipbuilding or ship repair experience.
- EMT Certification.
- First Responder Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification or Training.
- Experience investigating workplace incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience promoting and enforcing workplace safety programs.
