Job description

Gulf Marine Repair Day & Night Shift
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of heavy lifting equipment in a shipyard environment. This role requires precision, strong situational awareness, and adherence to all safety regulations while handling materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate crawler cranes, lattice boom cranes, and hydraulic cranes of various sizes
  • Operate barge-mounted friction cranes as required
  • Perform pre-operational inspections and routine equipment checks
  • Safely lift, move, and position materials according to lift plans and site conditions
  • Interpret load charts and accurately calculate load weights and capacities
  • Assist with rigging operations as needed to ensure proper load securement
  • Communicate effectively with riggers, signal persons, and supervisors
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • 4+ years of crane operating experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in a shipyard or marine environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of crane load charts and lift planning
  • Experience operating both hydraulic and friction cranes
  • Ability to work safely in a high-risk, industrial environment

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds regularly

Education & Certifications:
  • NCCCO certification (LAT [LBC] & TLL) required
  • Valid Class B driver's license
