Job description

Night Shift Supervisor

O'Brien's Irish Pub – Plant City, FL

Position Summary

O'Brien's Irish Pub is looking for a dependable and experienced Night Shift Supervisor to help lead our team during evening and closing shifts. This is an hourly leadership position designed for someone who can take charge of the shift, support our servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff, and make sure the restaurant operates smoothly.

The Night Shift Supervisor is not a traditional management position. Instead, this person serves as the go-to leader for the hourly staff while on duty, working alongside the team while providing direction, accountability, and support.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise hourly staff during evening and closing shifts.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment.
  • Ensure employees are following O'Brien's service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor guest service and step in to resolve routine guest concerns when needed.
  • Help keep the dining room, bar, and other guest areas clean, organized, and running efficiently.
  • Ensure side work, cleaning duties, and closing responsibilities are completed properly and on time.
  • Monitor staff performance, attendance, and adherence to scheduled responsibilities.
  • Communicate staffing or employee issues to the management team.
  • Support servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff when business levels require it.
  • Monitor responsible alcohol service and ensure employees follow all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Address minor employee issues and redirect behavior when necessary, escalating more serious concerns to management.
  • Complete required shift notes, reports, or other closing documentation.
  • Secure the restaurant and follow proper closing procedures when assigned.
  • Maintain a professional presence and lead by example throughout the shift.
Qualifications
  • Previous restaurant or hospitality experience required.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to confidently direct and hold hourly employees accountable.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to lead by example.
  • Must be comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively with both front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
  • Must be at least 18 years old; additional age requirements may apply based on alcohol-service responsibilities.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who doesn't need the title of \manager\ to take ownership of a shift. The right person is confident enough to give direction, willing to jump in wherever needed, and understands that leadership in a restaurant means working alongside the team—not standing over them.

This position is ideal for someone who has restaurant experience and is ready to take on more responsibility without stepping into a full management role.
