Position Description: Experience and Skills Required: The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server/database development, Db2, COBOL, JavaScript, Angular/Blazor, and Web Services, with a focus on delivering robust web-based software solutions and supporting enterprise database environments. Experience with database design, query optimization, stored procedures, data integration, reporting, and troubleshooting database-related issues is strongly desired. Experience developing modern web applications using ASP.NET Core Blazor, Entity Framework Core, RESTful APIs, and component-based UI development is strongly preferred.

The Department of Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking an experienced .NET Developer with a strong background in Microsoft development tools, frameworks, and database technologies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with hands-on expertise in Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server/database development, Db2, COBOL, JavaScript, Angular/Blazor, and Web Services, with a focus on delivering robust web-based software solutions and supporting enterprise application and database environments. Experience developing modern web applications using ASP.NET Core Blazor, Entity Framework Core, RESTful APIs, and component-based UI development is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications aligned with existing and future business requirements. Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, views, and related database objects. Support early-stage modernization efforts for department systems, including migration from legacy ASP.NET Web Forms or AngularJS applications to ASP.NET Core and Blazor-based architectures.

Support database performance tuning, optimization, data integrity, and troubleshooting activities. Conduct research and development activities, ensuring alignment with DCFS development standards and documentation practices. Participate in unit testing, documentation, and validation of developed solutions.

Support the ongoing development of the enterprise applications, including APIs, system interfaces, database components, and new modules or applications. Assist with various IT initiatives to enable internal developers to focus on priority efforts. Provide support and perform maintenance on current DCFS applications and related database environments.

Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to industry best practices. Test and validate individual work components for accuracy and functionality related to other IT projects. Analyze and understand both functional and technical requirements.

Support early-stage modernization efforts for department systems, including application and database modernization initiatives. Attend and contribute to project meetings related to DCFS initiatives. Conducts requirement gathering, documents, and validates business requirements.

Understanding the Functional and Technical Requirements for the project Document findings, questions, and observations from system evaluations. Maintain up-to-date records for development tasks, including technical design documentation and required use/test cases. Submit regular status updates summarizing completed work and remaining items for assigned tasks.
