Job description

Job Title: MRI Technologist
Department: Radiology
Location: Rochester General Hospital
Hours Per Week: 40hrs per week
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, Night Shift, 9:00pm-7:30am
SUMMARY:
As an MRI Technologist, your ability to empathize with patients, specialized technical skills, and dedication to quality, greatly enhances the overall success of MRI imaging for diagnostic use in patient care in RRH Radiology. Performs technical and specialized skills in the operation of a Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Scanner to produce high quality cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes, while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients undergoing these procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs a variety of routine and advanced MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) procedures in the presence of a strong magnetic field while monitoring and maintaining essential patient care and safety.
  • Educates patients regarding their procedure and maintain a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for the patient throughout the exam.
  • Maintains accountability for timely and proper service to patients during unsupervised shifts.
  • Provides on-call coverage for MRI Section of Radiology.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two year college degree in Radiologic Technologist in Applied Science or equivalent.
  • NYS license in Radiologic Technology (or) must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of employment.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R) within six months of employment.
  • Effective 7/16/2018 - NYS Injection Certification within six months of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to work in various software applications preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills preferred.

RT(R) - Registered Radiologic Technologist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
