Job description

The Massman Operator supports safe, quality-focused cheese packaging operations by operating and monitoring assigned equipment, performing routine quality checks, maintaining sanitary conditions, and completing required production documentation. This role requires consistent adherence to GMPs, food safety, and safety procedures while working independently and as part of a team.
Schedule: Sunday- Tuesday from 6:00pm-6:30pm and Wednesday from 6:00pm-12:00am
Essential Functions
• Operate, monitor, and adjust assigned equipment to meet production and quality requirements.
• Perform and document routine quality checks; respond to out-of-spec results by notifying supervision and taking appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including GMP compliance and proper chemical use per procedures.
• Complete required production, quality, and safety documentation accurately and on time.
• Safely operate a forklift and/or pallet jack (when assigned) and follow all traffic/pedestrian safety rules.
• Coordinate with upstream/downstream operators to maintain product flow and minimize downtime.
• Follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures and report hazards, near misses, or injuries immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly attentive to detail with a strong commitment to quality and food safety.
• Ability to learn the position within approximately four (4) weeks (training period may vary).
• Working knowledge of sanitation practices and GMPs (or ability to learn and apply).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
• Demonstrated good attendance and satisfactory performance record.
• Forklift operation ability (training/certification may be required per site policy).
Physical Demands
• Lift up to 50 lbs periodically; must be able to lift a 40 lb block of cheese during production.
• Stand and walk for most of the shift on concrete floors while wearing required chemical-resistant footwear.
• Climb stairs routinely throughout the shift (up to approximately 90 feet of stairs).
• Perform repetitive tasks and work in varying temperatures and humidity typical of food manufacturing environments.
Work Environment & Safety
• Work involves production equipment, moving forklifts, wet floors, and use of approved cleaning/sanitation chemicals.
• Required PPE may include safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, gloves, hair/beard nets, eye protection, and other PPE as assigned.
• Must follow site safety rules, food safety requirements, and all standard operating procedures.
