Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in a combined adult/pediatric emergency department, requiring prior travel experience and an active IL RN license.

Details
  • General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patient populations
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Typical schedule includes Friday, Saturday, and one additional weekday as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
Requirements
  • Active Illinois RN license required in hand at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of ER RN experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC (NRP preferred)
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
  • Experience with charting systems required (any system)
  • Skilled in emergency care across pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and trauma presentations
  • Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • Experience with triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and orthopedic splinting
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care for a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, respiratory distress, cardiac events, and psychiatric emergencies
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and interpret arterial blood gases
  • Perform skills such as chest tube management, central line care, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Administer emergency medications including vasopressors and continuous IV sedation
  • Local candidates accepted
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • RTO should ideally not exceed 5 non-holiday days
  • Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
  • Housing availability in the area is limited
