The position combines hands-on security responsibilities with dispatch duties, including monitoring radio traffic, coordinating security personnel, responding to incidents, conducting property checks, and communicating important information to appropriate Road America personnel and emergency services when necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Security Leadership

  • Provide direction and support to guest services personnel and event security personnel.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the property, facilities, parking areas, camping areas, gates, and other assigned locations.
  • Monitor for unauthorized access, suspicious activity, safety hazards, and violations of Road America policies.

  • Respond to security incidents, disturbances, emergencies, and other situations as directed.
  • Assist with crowd control and maintaining order when necessary.
  • Ensure security staff remain at assigned posts and complete required patrols and responsibilities.

Night Dispatch
  • Monitor security radio communications throughout the shift.
  • Dispatch appropriate security personnel to incidents and requests for assistance.
  • Maintain communication with security staff throughout active incidents.
  • Maintain an accurate log of incidents, calls, patrols, and significant activity during the shift.
  • Communicate significant incidents to the Operations Manager
  • Contact emergency services when appropriate and assist with coordinating their response on property.

Incident Response & Reporting
  • Respond promptly to accidents, medical emergencies, disturbances, suspicious activity, lost persons, property concerns, and other incidents.
  • Assist emergency responders with locating individuals, facilities, or incident locations.
  • Complete accurate and timely incident reports and shift documentation.
  • Preserve relevant information and evidence when incidents require further investigation.
  • Immediately report serious incidents, injuries, security concerns, or potential criminal activity to management.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee, guest, and incident information.

Event Security

  • Strong radio communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, guests, vendors, and emergency personnel.
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision during overnight hours.
  • Ability to document incidents accurately and objectively.
  • Must be dependable and able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and Road America event weekends.

Work Environment
This is a seasonal, part-time position that operates primarily during Road America events and high-activity periods. The position may require extended periods outdoors, walking throughout the property, working overnight hours, and responding to incidents in varying weather conditions.
Because Road America is an active motorsports facility, employees may be exposed to loud noises, vehicle traffic, large crowds, dust, heat, cold, rain, and other conditions associated with race events.
Key Performance Expectations

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to calls and incidents.
  • Maintain accurate and complete dispatch and security logs.
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to assigned security staff.
  • Communicate significant issues promptly to management.
