THE TOWN CLUB

SERVER – JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Server provides warm, attentive, and professional food and beverage service to Town Club members and their guests. Servers are expected to create a welcoming private-club experience by recognizing members, anticipating needs, maintaining high service standards, and working collaboratively with the entire Food & Beverage team.

Essential Responsibilities

Member Service

  • Greet members and guests warmly and use member names whenever possible.
  • Learn member preferences, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
  • Anticipate needs and provide attentive service without being intrusive.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to requests or concerns.
  • Maintain appropriate discretion and confidentiality regarding members and club activities.

Food & Beverage Service

  • Arrive on time, properly groomed, in complete uniform, and ready for service.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and understand daily menus, specials, events, and service expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, allergens, wines, cocktails, and other beverage offerings.
  • Accurately take and enter orders into the POS system.
  • Follow established steps of service, including proper food and beverage delivery, course timing, table maintenance, and pre-bussing.
  • Monitor tables throughout the dining experience and anticipate refills, condiments, utensils, and other needs.
  • Accurately process member charges and verify information when necessary.
  • Thank members and guests sincerely at the conclusion of service.

Dining Room & Event Standards

  • Ensure tables and service areas are clean, properly set, stocked, and member-ready.
  • Complete assigned opening, running, and closing side work.
  • Promptly reset tables and maintain dining room cleanliness throughout service.
  • Assist with private events, club functions, buffets, receptions, and special programming as assigned.
  • Follow event timelines, floor plans, service instructions, and setup/breakdown requirements.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with members, coworkers, culinary staff, and management.
  • Assist teammates when needed and contribute to the success of the entire dining room.
  • Clearly communicate allergies, dietary restrictions, special requests, timing concerns, and member feedback.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency while remaining calm and professional.
  • Accept coaching and feedback positively and apply it to future performance.

Qualifications
