Looking for a motivated and energetic individual to help keep our facilities squeaky clean!
Position: House Keeper
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
Responsible for contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the Agency by assisting with the maintenance of Agency facilities and vehicles in a clean, sanitary, and orderly state as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. In this role, works closely and cooperatively with child care, cooking, office, and professional staff.
INFORMATION PRIVACY AND SECURITY LEVEL:
In accord with federal and state legislative mandates, individuals employed in this position are trained to, and function within a Level III security clearance for confidentiality of client protected health information, and other privileged information. Appropriate sanctions will be applied against employees who fail to comply with the privacy policies and procedures of the Agency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a wide variety of housekeeping skills.
  • Have the ability to work without supervision.
  • Have the ability to be flexible and able to move from a planned work activity to another in response to an emergency.
  • Have knowledge of trauma informed care and ability and willingness to make trauma informed decisions with client and/or other staff when necessary. Take any on-going trainings when required.
  • Respond at all times with discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
  • Have a current Illinois Driver's license and proof of state requirement for insurance.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS REQURIED:
  • Must be physically strong, agile, and coordinated.
  • Possess the ability to perform sitting, standing, stooping, and heavy work (able to lift heavy items of 50 pounds or more, and move heavy items (such as desks, file cabinets, and furniture) in daily full-time employment.
  • Have the ability to operate a motor vehicle during daylight and night hours.
  • Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an understandable manner.
  • Possess reasonably good natural or corrected hearing and vision.
  • Possess the ability to maintain calm efficiency and effectiveness in stressful and demanding situations.
  • Possess the ability to perform work that is repetitive and tedious.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance Functions:
  • Assist with the maintenance of equipment and maintenance supplies inventories.
  • Assist with cleaning of Agency vehicles as assigned.

Custodial Functions:
  • Clean and polish tile floors in Administrative kitchens and other work areas, and clean Administrative kitchen sinks and appliances as needed.
  • Regularly vacuum and remove spots and stains from carpeted areas throughout the Administrative building, Group Home, and Residential Wings.
  • Wash windows, and other glass surfaces regularly, including television screens.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain rest room areas.
  • Maintain elevator doors and interiors, keeping finger marks cleaned off and floor area vacuumed.
  • Clean Conference or meeting rooms, including table tops, chair seats and rungs, and floor after any function held there.
  • Remove trash from Agency residential and office areas regularly, using proper disposal and handling techniques.
  • Clean all office and public areas of the Agency, vacuum carpets, dust and polish furniture (including chair rungs and equipment bases and desk tops), and dust equipment, book cases, and other dust attracting areas.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
