Position Title Assistant Esports Coach Posting Number S00562 Full-Time/Part-Time Part Time Work Schedule Salary $6,000.00 stipend Campus/Center Peosta Location Peosta, Iowa
Position Summary Information
Job Goal
The Esports Coach will be responsible for coaching teams in multiple games, recruiting players to those teams, and managing the practice and competition schedules for those teams. This position will require work hours to coincide with practice and competition hours and thus will primarily require weekday afternoons and evening hours.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the Esports team including practicing, competing and scheduling.
  • Evaluates and recruits qualified students and maintains specific roster sizes for the program.
  • Collaborates with the Admissions and Student Services for recruiting and enrolling prospective student-athletes from point of inquiry through registration.
  • Monitors, assists, and nurtures student-athletes' academic progress at the college.
  • Performs set-up, tear-down, update and storage of equipment.
  • Develop and adhere to the budget set forth for the program.
  • Works directly with the Esports coach at the other NICC campus for marketing the Esports program along with recruiting initiatives.
  • Responsible for submitting press releases after each competition and ensuring the NICC Esports webpage is up to date.
  • Oversee work study students who assist with the Esports program.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities to help with the costs of additional items needed for the program.
  • Responsible for ensuring the NICC code of conduct is being followed by each student athlete.
  • Promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student athlete.
Qualifications
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • College playing experience and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
    • One-year experience with applicable rules and regulations of the governing body, i.e. NJCAAE preferred.
    • Knowledge and experience of Esports games such as League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, Super Smash Bros, Valorant, FIFA 2022 , Hearthstone, NBA 2K22, Madden, CoD, or similar games.
    • Ability to work with diverse populations including faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
    Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Be able and willing to represent Northeast Iowa Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, suppliers, and the community we serve.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly, concisely, logically and coherently.

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, and the general public.
  • Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise good judgment when making decisions.

  • Effectively recruit/retain quality student athletes.
  • Continue to develop an Esports program which the entire campus and community can be proud of.
  • Effectively develop a relationship with the State of Iowa Esports coaches to enhance our Iowa recruitment efforts.
